A Thousand Days in Venice

by Lora Barrett
(Holyoke, MA, USA)

A Thousand Days in Venice. is a beautiful memoir of a particular period in this American author's life, when she falls in love with a native Venetian.

Learn about the nooks and crannies of Venice, their recipes, and the secrets to their food.

Right after I read the book, we went to Venice, and at author Marlena di Blasi's suggestion, we ate at a lovely restaurant, Al Conde Pescaor, not far from St. Mark's Square. Its location is far enough from the frenzy to be filled with locals. It was a lovely read.

Maria's reply: Thank you so much for the recommendation. Another one to add to my reading list.

Love this book

Bought and read this book many years ago. Loved it. Still have it and picked it up to reread a week ago. Such an incredible love story . Marlena has retold this story beautifully mixed with wonderful images of life in Venice as a local. Always wonder why this hadn't been made into a film. I have the sequel 1000 days in Tuscany and can highly recommend as well.

A Thousand Days in Venice

Venice has to be the most romantic city on earth, and this book made me long to live there. It inspired me to visit, and on many occasions, the sheer beauty and romance of it all had me in tears—the sentimental soul that I am.

If you love life with passion, are romantic at heart, and want to discover Venice, then read A Thousand Days in Venice.

Maria's reply: Thank you for sharing your review; the cover alone is enough to make you want to visit :-)
