Roman Hotels

We have stayed in the Regno Hotel in via Del Corso three times. Mostly because of its handy location to the Trevi, the Pantheon etc. Its fair, not plush by any means but a good 3-star hotel.

Most hotels in that area are pricey. Next year we have opted for the Hotel Cosmopolita so we will be interested to compare.

Love Rome, usually spend 4 nights there on our way to beautiful Lucca where we stay in an apartment for a month. Love Lucca, it has so much to offer and is not too big. Love the Opera there as well as the people and everything else it has to offer.

Maria's reply: Thank you very much for sharing your suggestions. I don't know the Regno Hotel but I'll definitely check it out next time I am in Rome.

Please let me know what you think of the Cosmopolita too after your next visit. I'm always on the lookout for new hotels in Rome although, to be honest, it really takes something extra-special to tempt me away from my beloved Hotel Santa Maria. If you've never stayed there the photo above will hopefully tempt you.

It isn't that cheap, but it is still great value. Don't ever tell them, but I'd pay twice as much for the wonderful privilege of enjoying breakfast under the orange trees on a warm spring morning in Rome. The scent of orange blossoms and freshly baked croissants is sheer heaven.

Nearly forgot, I love Lucca too. One of the loveliest cities in Italy to visit and as a city to live in as well.
