Venice
I have been to Venice 16 times. (I live in Italy) and never tire of it.
I love getting lost in the ever-winding streets and alleyways. There is so much to see, still. I have been here for Christmas, New Years, Carnevale, spring, summer, fall, and numerous Biennials.
Have done a fun night ghost tour that tells of the folk and lore of Venice..(loved it so much I have done it 3 times..different with different guides). It can be arranged at the tourist office in St. Marks Square.
Burano is not to be missed..the colors are amazing, as are the shops and restaurants. During the Christmas holidays, there are many concerts all around the city.
It's best to go to Venice off-season, although the holidays do present their magic, as does Carnevale. Venice is unique, magical, and not to be missed. I will be planning to go again this year!!

Oh wow, I absolutely love how much passion you have for Venice! Sixteen times and still finding new things to discover—now that’s the magic of La Serenissima. You’ve truly embraced everything Venice has to offer, from its iconic celebrations to those quiet moments of getting lost in its winding streets.
I couldn’t agree more about Burano—it’s like stepping into a watercolor painting, isn’t it? Those bright, cheerful houses are unforgettable, and the lace shops and seafood restaurants just make the whole experience even more special.
And that ghost tour sounds so intriguing! I’ve never done one myself, but you’ve sold me on it—I love anything with a mix of history and a touch of the eerie. I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone who asks about unique things to do in Venice.
You’re spot on about visiting in the off-season. The crowds thin out, and the city feels more intimate—almost like it’s all yours. But yes, there’s something magical about Venice during Christmas and Carnevale too. The city really knows how to put on a show!
I hope your next trip is as enchanting as the others. Who knows, maybe Venice will surprise you with something new again. It always seems to have a way of doing that!
